Crackers in the Community: A Big Thank You for 2025!

Thanks to the incredible of our Sun Dog Yoga community, we were able to deliver over 160 packs of sandwich crackers along with several boxes of hygiene essentials: from soap and wipes, deodorant, and even perfume to the UP Center for Women and Children. These everyday essential items mean a lot: nourishment, comfort, and a reminder that someone cares.

This is what Sun Dog Yoga's vision looks like in action: bringing support into the community, whether that’s snack packs, wellness practice tools, or moments of connection and care.  Thank you for helping us meet people where they are.  One cracker pack, one breath, one act of kindness at a time.

Recently in chair yoga class, we celebrated 84 years of living with one of our yogis. Eighty-four years of breaths taken, stories carried, losses, resilience, and joy, all of it quietly present in the room. We practiced a simple breathing exercise, imagining birthday candles glowing on a cupcake. A slow inhale through the nose. A gentle, steady exhale through the lips. At the end of class, we shared mini birthday cupcakes. Moments like this make me think about aging. It can show up as stiffness in the morning, balance that feels less reliable, or in the grief of not moving the way you once did. Aging is not easy. It asks us to adapt, to let go, to meet limitations with honesty. In yoga, we are invited to notice with curiosity and kindness rather than resistance. Our bodies are always changing whether we are 7, 27, 87, or somewhere in between. Like the seasons, our needs shift and yoga can shift with us, I am so glad to know that yoga is more than a physical movement practice. It can meet us where we are at every age offering space for breath, presence, and acceptance.
